Practical guide to calculate the number of pedestals needed for your terrace.

Step 1: Measure and Plan

The first step is to measure the surface area of the terrace you want to build. Take precise measurements of the length and width of the area. Then, plan the layout of the pedestals on a sketch, taking into account the necessary spacing according to the covering material. For example, for a 60/60 cm slab, the recommendation is 1 pedestal at each corner, ensuring not to exceed 60 cm between each pedestal.

Step 2: Consider the Manufacturer’s Recommendations

Consult the manufacturer’s recommendations to know the maximum recommended spacing between the pedestals for the material you are using. Different materials have specific support requirements, so it is important to take these recommendations into account to ensure a solid and durable construction.

Step 3: Calculate the Number of Pedestals

To calculate the number of pedestals needed, divide the length of your terrace by the recommended spacing between the pedestals. For example, if the length of your terrace is 4 meters and the recommended spacing (or center-to-center distance) is 50 centimeters, you will need (400 cm / 50 cm) = 8 pedestals in the length direction.

Repeat this calculation for the width of the terrace. For example, if the width of your terrace is 3 meters and the recommended spacing is 50 centimeters, you will need (300 cm / 50 cm) = 6 pedestals in the width direction.

Then, multiply the number of pedestals in the length direction by the number of pedestals in the width direction to get the total number of pedestals needed. In this example, you will need 8 pedestals x 6 pedestals = 48 pedestals in total.

Step 4: Consider the Edges and Angles

In some cases, you will need to consider the edges of the terrace that require an additional pedestal for more support. Additionally, if your terrace has angles, you will need to plan for extra pedestals to maintain the stability of the materials. Make sure to add these extra pedestals in your calculation.

Step 5: Round Up to the Next Whole Number

It is recommended to round up the total number of pedestals needed to the next whole number. It is better to have a few extra pedestals to ensure optimal stability and to replace any damaged or worn pedestals if necessary.

By following these simple steps, you can accurately calculate the number of pedestals needed for your modular terrace project using Jouplast® products. Always consult the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding spacing and specific support for your material. Careful planning will allow you to build a solid and durable terrace, providing a functional and aesthetic outdoor space to enjoy relaxing moments outdoors.
