It is important for supermarkets and commercial areas to offer welcoming and secure parking spaces for their users.

This 2500m² paved commercial parking lot was built to redevelop the parking area of a Leclerc store in Cars (33), Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France. It makes vehicle passage and parking more pleasant for the store’s customers. Here, the goal was to provide a clean, durable space that ensures proper drainage of rainwater through the use of our URBANIT paving stabilizing plates.

1. Which type of paving stones to choose ?

Our paver stabilizer is compatible with all concrete pavers measuring 15×15 cm and 6 cm in height. It can also be used with interlocking stone or sandstone pavers, although these are less common due to their higher cost.

We recommend using pavers with smooth sides and without lugs. The pavers should not be aged, as they often have irregularities due to impacts they have received. While these irregularities can give them a unique and aesthetic appearance, they make the installation and movement on our paver stabilizing plates unstable.

According to the NF EN 1338 standard, the manufacturing tolerance is +/- 3 mm for a dimension of 150 mm. This type of paver is readily available in large DIY stores or from material suppliers.

2. How to ensure the permeability of a paved parking lot?

To ensure the permeability of a commercial paved parking lot, here are some recommendations:

Use URBANIT® stabilizing plates: Our plates are designed to allow the natural infiltration of rainwater into the soil. They are ideal for creating permeable parking lots.
Choice of pavers: Use smooth pavers without irregularities to ensure stable installation.
Proper installation: To make your parking lot permeable, it is essential to properly prepare your soil and interlock the URBANIT plates to ensure optimal permeability.
Regular maintenance: Keep the parking lot clean and ensure that the spaces between the pavers are not obstructed by debris. Excessive debris can prevent proper water infiltration.
