a question?

Our landscaping experts have the answers

1. What are Jouplast 170mm ridged wedges used for?

Jouplast 170mm ridged wedges are designed to wedge and level indoor and outdoor timber structures. They can be used to wedge gaps of up to 40 mm and, thanks their saw-tooth ridging system, ensure perfect stability for joists and similar components. Compatible with flat packers, they are ultra-strong (crush resistance over 2 tonnes) and have moulded holes for easy no-drill fixing.

2. How are Jouplast® ridged wedges used?

These wedges are used directly beneath joists or any other joinery components requiring height adjustment. There are a number of rules governing their positioning:

  • Provide clearance of at least 10 mm where joists are laid parallel to the direction of water flow; 20 mm where joists are laid at right angles to the direction of water flow.
  • Leave the recommended spacing of 70 cm between wedges (depending on joist cross-section and type of timber).
  • Space joists at 50 cm centres when using natural timber decking boards, and at 40 cm centres when using composite boards (check with the manufacturer).

Wedges can be screwed, glued or nailed in place to ensure optimum fixing.

3. What types of work can they be used for?

Jouplast 170 mm ridged wedges are ideal for wedging timber decking, boarded floors and the joists used in outdoor terrace construction. They are also useful for interior and exterior joinery projects. Their strength and precision make them an essential accessory for ensuring installation stability and durability.
