Installation and Application

All riser pedestals for paving must be installed on stabilised ground or a precast concrete slab. CLEMAN® riser pedestals are compatible with all paving formats. At least one riser pedestal should be positioned at each corner of the paving slab. Please refer to the paving/ceramic tile manufacturer’s recommendations to decide whether or not additional riser pedestals may be required. The paving used must be self-supporting and compliant with French classification T7, T11 or F+. The CLEMAN® 28/40 riser pedestal is not compatible with the paved side finishing plate. Please refer to our installation advice for details of terrace side finishing.

a question?

Our landscaping experts have the answers

1. What is the Cleman® adjustable 40/55 riser pedestal used for?

The Cleman® adjustable 40/55 riser pedestal is used to create tiled, ceramic or paved terraces for pedestrian use. It offers 3 adjustment options: pre-setting using the driver bit, manual setting using the screw adjuster, and final adjustment using the special adjustment wrench, all of which enables an extremely precise level of height adjustment. It offers not only fast and structurally stable installation, but also optimised side cladding facilitated by the 2 supports integrated into the base flange. This riser pedestal is compatible with self-supporting paving compliant with French classification T7, T11, or F+. It is not suitable for use with the paved side finishing plate.

2. How is the Cleman® adjustable 40/55 riser pedestal used?

The Cleman® riser pedestal must be installed on stabilised ground or an existing concrete slab. It must be positioned under the paving in accordance with the recommendations of the paving manufacturer, with at least one riser pedestal at each corner of each paving slab. Its progressive adjustment system allows height adjustment before, during and after installation, ensuring optimum alignment and a perfect finished installation.

3. How many Cleman® 40/55 riser pedestals are required for terrace construction?

The number of riser pedestals required depends on the total area to be covered and the format of the paving used:

  • For a 20 m² terrace paved with 60 x 60 cm paving slabs, 4 riser pedestals per m², so 80 riser pedestals in all.
  • For a 40 m² terrace paved with 80 x 80 cm paving slabs, 7 riser pedestals per m², so 280 riser pedestals in all.

This calculation may vary according to the type of paving used and recommendations of the manufacturer.

4. Which types of ground can this riser pedestal be installed on?

The Cleman® 40/55 mm riser pedestal must be laid on stabilised soil or an existing concrete slab with a level surface and a gradient of no more than 1.5%. It is not suitable for use on loose soil or unprepared ground.
